Dr Sir I would take it as a favor if you would purchase of Mr. Carter or Fowler 25Ib of his manufactured tobacco and 25lb of hand [tobacco?] You will please write me a note and leave it here informing me whether I can get it or not

As I have not the means of paying for it they will probably take your paper for the tobacco and I will accompt with you for the same I am in great need of it — and am in hopes you will do me the favor to procure it for me
