Summary: Agreement to prospect for lead on Moses Austin's land.


Mine Au Burton July 18 1810

Richard Cobb this day applied for permission to dig mineral for— Blakely and himself on this tract, their intention was he said to traverse the whole survey and endeavour to make some valuable discoveries—provided they could meet with sufficient incouragement— The following agreement was accordingly made with them— For a discovery which shall be valuable and which shall be judged by disinterested Persons to be such an one as is here intended, and which shall be thought worthy of the affixed reward they shall receive fifty Dollars fifty feet square of land, and twenty two Dollars per thousand for all the Mineral raised within their fifty feet untill Moses Austin returns or until the first of October should he not return before that time

Provisoes, The place where the Discovery is made must be an intirely new one—where there has never been a mineral Hole sunk previous to making this agreement— A sufficient number of Hands must be con[s]tantly employd to work the fiffty feet—

This Agreement shall be considered as void after the arrival of Moses Austin at this Place

Cooper and Shields have permission to dig in the Rocky Pararie.
