State of Missouri Washington County Potosi Jany 18th 1822.

Dear Friend

I have taken the liberty of writing you I am very Anxious to know the true situation of that Country as it has become a general talk throughout this Country and knowing that you will give a true account of the Country I take the liberty of writing and hope you will write me by Mr Bruffey I shall confide in what you write me. If you think a young man can do well there you will mention it to me I want to know on what terms land can be obtained and what quantity one man will get and the production of the country And everything appertaining thereto

I am still a resident of Potosi but If you think I could do better by coming to that part I certainly shall do so—

I have nothing worth your attention to inform you of only that the legislature have made a stop law or property law which you may please to call it. Your friends and relations are all well as far as I know I herd from Mr Bryan but a few days past all of his family were well then
