This is to witness that I have this day hired from Stephen F
Austin judge of this Colony an African negro man named John
belonging to the heirs of Richard Barret deced for the term of
three months for which I obligate myself to pay to said heirs or their
representative twenty five bushels of corn to be delivered on the
Brasos River
