Immediately on receipt of this order you will detail a firing party to be commanded by yourself in person of (16) sixteen men with 4 rounds of blank cartridges to land over the Bayou above the House of McKinney and Williams and march immediately to the Residence of James F. Perry Esq to pay funeral honors to the late Genl S. F. Austin decd—
Should this order reach you in the night you [will] not fail to march forthwith— By order of his Excelly

Herewith you have an official order— uniform your men as the President will be there and show him how prompt you are in your duty— March the men to Perrys immediately tho' in the night you must get a guide have your men picked and in the neatest trim possible
